Fall Harvest Prep Guide — California 2026

Everything you need ready before October Fall harvest is the culmination of months of work. In California, outdoor cannabis typically finishes between late September and early November depending on strain. Being prepared makes the difference between a successful harvest and a devastating loss to mold or poor drying conditions.

August-September: Pre-Harvest Checklist

Branch support — stake, cage, or trellis heavy branches now before buds get heavier Defoliate — remove excess fan leaves for mold prevention and airflow IPM final spray — last pest treatment no later than 3 weeks before harvest Rain protection — have tarps or greenhouse covers ready for early rain Prepare drying space — clean, dark, 60°F/60% humidity ideal Stock trim supplies — scissors, gloves, trays, turkey bags, boveda packs Schedule help — large harvests need hands. Book trim crew early.

Post-Harvest
