Starfighter arrived in the early 2010s as one of Alien Genetics' flagship creations, a cross of Alien Tahoe OG and Lemon Alien Dawg that quickly earned cult status among resin-chasing cultivators. The strain's architecture is compact and manageable — plants typically finish short to medium in stature, with medium internode spacing and lateral branching vigorous enough to fill a SCROG net without excessive vegetative time. Two to three toppings yield eight to twelve dominant colas per plant. After the 12/12 flip, expect a moderate 1.5–2.0x stretch, making vertical space planning straightforward compared to more sativa-leaning hybrids.

Flowering runs eight to nine weeks for most phenotypes, with resin maturity typically reached between 56 and 63 days from the flip. A small subset of lemon-forward phenotypes may push to 65 days for peak terpene expression, particularly in cooler rooms. Indoor yields land in the 450–600 g/m² range (roughly 1.5–2.0 oz/ft²) under optimized conditions, while outdoor plants in Mediterranean-style climates can produce 14–20 ounces per plant with a mid-October harvest window. The calyx-to-leaf ratio sits around 3:1, which streamlines post-harvest trimming considerably.

Nutritionally, Starfighter is a moderate feeder that responds well to a balanced NPK regimen with supplemental Cal-Mag, especially in coco coir or under LED lighting. Transition from a nitrogen-heavy vegetative feed to a phosphorus-potassium-dominant bloom formula by the third week of flower. In soil, maintain pH between 6.0 and 7.0; in coco or hydroponic systems, target 5.5–6.2. The strain performs in soil, coco, and hydro alike, though experienced growers running coco with daily fertigation often report tighter bud structure and enhanced trichome density. Flush with plain pH-adjusted water for the final seven to ten days before harvest.

The strain's defining commercial trait is its extraordinary trichome coverage. Growers consistently report 'snowball' buds by week seven — dense capitate-stalked trichomes with medium-diameter heads and thick stalks blanket bracts and sugar leaves alike. This morphology makes Starfighter a prime candidate for solventless extraction; the thick-stalked glands separate cleanly in ice water hash and produce above-average rosin yields with a pronounced lemon-vanilla flavor. Bud coloration trends lime to forest green with fiery orange pistils, and cooler night temperatures can unlock lavender to deep purple hues from anthocyanin expression.

On pest and disease resistance, Starfighter is considered hardy and resistant to common molds and mildew, making it accessible to less experienced growers. However, its dense colas demand strong airflow — oscillating fans and strategic defoliation of interior fan leaves are essential to prevent moisture pockets that invite botrytis in late flower. Weekly IPM inspections for mites and powdery mildew remain standard practice.

For drying and curing, target 60°F and 60% RH for a 10–14 day hang dry to preserve the lighter monoterpenes behind Starfighter's lemon-cream top notes. Cure in airtight, UV-opaque containers at 60–70°F, burping daily the first week. Final moisture content should settle near 10–12%. Well-cured Starfighter holds its nose for months stored in darkness. Total terpene content commonly falls in the 1.5–2.5% range, with exceptional runs surpassing 3.0% under CO2 supplementation.
